Helping to educate the WHOLE child

About

Formal music education begins in the first grade at Sunrise Elementary School.  Using the Kodaly Education Method of teaching music literacy, all students learn to read music and discover their beautiful singing voices.

Our children learn to read music notation of many of the folk songs they learn.  They also learn fun singing games, which help them interact with their peers in a positive way.

Our students 1st through 4th grade have 30 minute music classes, 3 times a week.

How

Students in 1st through 4th grade with be exploring music through singing and instrumentation.

Students will be able to echo, read, and improvise on various pitched

and unpitched percussion instruments.

They will be learning using both Kodaly and Orff music methodologies.
